Setting Up a Safe Walking Routine for Older Family Members

Why walking matters — and why it carries risk

A daily walk is one of the best things an older family member can do for their health, mood, and independence. But a walk also takes them out of immediate reach — past traffic, unfamiliar people, and situations that can turn uncomfortable fast. The goal of a safe walking routine is not to limit independence, but to make sure help is never more than a tap away.

Build the routine
